The CANGAROO-III Project

چکیده
The CANGAROO-III project, which consists of an array of four 10 m imaging Cherenkov telescopes, has just started being constructed in Woomera, South Australia, in a collaboration between Australia and Japan. The first stereoscopic observation of celestial high-energy gamma-rays in the 100 GeV region with two telescopes will start in 2002, and the four telescope array will be completed in 2004. The concept of the project and the expected performance are discussed. ∗) E-mail: [email protected]

Recent Status of Cangaroo-iii Project
In 2000 CANGAROO-II 7m telescope has been improved to a 10m telescope, and the CANGAROO-III project has been begun. The CANGAROO-III is a project to study celestial gamma rays above 0.1 TeV with an array of four 10m Imaging Air Cerenkov T elescopes (IACTs) in the southern hemisphere. Here we report on the status of CANGAROO-III project including the observations using the rst telescope
متن کاملStatus of the CANGAROO-III Project
The CANGAROO-III project, a system of four 10 m telecopes dedicated for gamma-ray astrophysics, has started in 1999 and is expected to complete in 2004 in Woomera, South Australia. We report the construction work during the first year, which includes the completion of the first 10 m telescope built as a 7 m telescope in 1999, and the work in progess to increase the performance by constructing t...
متن کاملICRC 2001 The CANGAROO - III Project : Status report
We report on the status of the construction of an array of four 10 m atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes for gamma-ray astronomy, near Woomera, in South Australia – the CANGAROO-III project. The first telescope of this array is the upgraded version of the CANGAROO-II 7 m telescope and has been in operation since March 2000. The second telescope, an improved version of the first, is being construct...

Recent results from CANGAROO-II, the first 10m atmospheric Cherenkov telescope, and status of CANGAROO-III, the array of four 10m telescopes, are presented. The former one has been operating since 2000 and the latter one was completed in March 2004.
متن کاملStatus of an Atmospheric Cherenkov Imaging Camera for the CANGAROO–III Experiment and Perspective of the Field
CANGAROO–III is an experiment aiming at studying the properties of very high energy gamma rays from celestial objects in the southern sky. We use an array of 4 imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes in Australia. The observation with the first telescope (CANGAROO–II) started in 1999 and the data have been analyzed. The second telescope was constructed in 2002 and stereoscopic observations sta...
